The castle, also called St. George or Rospigliosi's Castle, is the centre of the rural town of Maccarese. The building rises on the ruins of the Etruscan Fregenae and it is a XVII Century's thick quadrangular construction, that contains medieval towers on the back. The four side bastions were built in 1569.
